BC Association of Family Resource Programs (FRP-BC) registered for the pan-Canadian video Webcast, Bridging Education and Early Learning & Care, on June 1, 2010. This video Webcast was a discussion about aligning education and early learning & care towards a comprehensive system of early child development. The newly established Canadian Network for Leadership in Education and Early Learning & Care seeks to provide a forum for discussion on issues of mutual interest to both sectors. Moderated by Joan Green, distinguished educational advisor and senior consultant, founding CEO of the Ontario EQAO, founding Chair of the Board of Roots of Empathy, and a former Director of Education for the Toronto District School Board, the panel of speakers included:
- Clyde Hertzman, President, Council for Early Child Development
- Penny Milton, CEO, Canadian Education Association
- Jim Grieve, Past President, Canadian Association of School Administrators
- Don Giesbrecht, President, Canadian Child Care Federation
Questions submitted by FRP-BC prior to the airing of the Webcast:
- Can you define Early Learning & Care and identify what services are included?
- Family Resource Programs strengthen parenting skills and provide stimulating early learning environments for young children. If this bridging Education and Early Learning & Care model includes children 3 and under, where do Family Resource Programs fit in?
